Description
A view of the beautiful Palic lake in Serbia and one part of the famous Women's lido under the cloudy sky. I am walking by the lake shore while the stormy clouds slowly begin to cover the sky. There is jet a little sunlight under the clouds what makes this scene even more beautiful. It's like the battle of light and darkness begins. Everything here is still so nice and calm that I wish to spend much more time in this wonderful place but I am afraid the rain will come soon. I stop only to photograph this moment and I'm moving on.
Women's lido on Palic lake near Subotica in Serbia, a beautiful building built more than 100 years ago in the Art Nouveau style is located right on the lake promenade.
This fairy-tale wooden building with an abundance of folk art details on it was built in the first half of the 20th century, back in 1912, to hide female swimmers from prying men's eyes. It is only fifty centimeters above the lake. At first, the women's beach was built on wooden piles (pillars), which were later replaced by concrete ones. While the men bathed on the shore, the women's Strand was hiding the shy female swimmers from prying male gazes.
It is a famous touristic attraction for everyone who visits Palic lake and you just can't miss it when you walk by the lake shore. Also, today there is a women's beach cafe bar on it.
Somewhere in may. Palić, Vojvodina, Serbia. From the Lake collection.
