Description
While I was walking along the promenade of the Palic Lake near Subotica in Serbia, one beautiful day in spring I came across this interesting old building which I immediately liked at first sight. It was surrounded by trees and flowers on the green grass, and the beautiful Palic Lake could be seen close to it. The day was coming to end and the sunset was slowly approaching. A storm clouds began to gather in the sky so I had to photograph it quickly and moved on to avoid the rain.
This very simple but outstanding construction from the beginning of the 20th century is located between the Grand Terrace and Palic Lake, on the central promenade leading from the Water Tower at the spa entrance through the Grand Terrace to the lake shore. During its existence, for a hundred years, the pavilion retained its original form and function. Musicians used to perform concerts here every day for park visitors. Many famous musicians from Subotica often played here, likewise others from the whole Monarchy, making the Great Palic park more attractive for visitors. There are a lot of unique decorative elements on this building such as the plant motifs engraved and perforated in a wooden fence and the spear at the top of the roof. The Music Pavilion is part of the Art Nouveau route and its inclusion in the "European Art Nouveau route" is in progress. It was built in 1910 as part of the monumental building complex of Palic, together with the Grand Terrace, Water Tower and Women’s Lido, and if you ever visit Serbia and the Palic Lake, you simply cannot miss it.
